Children Now gets great kids’ policy ideas across the finish line.

We deliver uplifting and lasting change for California’s kids by connecting people and policy.

Our Victories for Kids are Powered by the Strongest and Most Diverse Children’s Advocacy Network in the Country

The Children’s Movement, the largest and most diverse network of organizations and individuals fighting for kids, uses collective action campaigns to fuel the major wins we achieve.

We fight for all of California’s kids, at any age

Every point in a kid’s life, pre-birth to age 26, has a substantial impact on their future. Across health, education, early childhood, foster care, and anywhere else we can positively impact their well-being, we work to ensure all kids have the supports they need to thrive.

Education

We fight to strengthen California’s full education system, from early childhood and preschool through higher ed, so every kid has access to equitable experiences that drive their learning journey forward. We do this through closing achievement gaps, reducing absentee rates, increasing access to STEM, and other areas where students could use better tools to succeed.

Child Welfare

We fight for all children and youth in foster care to be raised in safe and loving homes, experience stability in school, and get the support they need to grow into independent adults. We do this through advocating for expanded housing for young people experiencing homelessness, advancing and improving the helpline for foster families we helped create, and other areas where foster youth can be better supported.

Health

We fight to ensure the health of all kids is protected and prioritized, with a strong focus on those often forgotten in the system. We do this across health care access, mental health, oral health, environmental health, and other areas where kids’ health can be improved.

Early Childhood

We fight for all young kids to have access to nurturing early childhood supports to help them grow and develop to their fullest potential. We do this through fighting for a universal child care system. strengthening home visiting programs, increasing health care access for kids under 5, expanding infant and toddler mental health, and other areas where families with young children can be provided support.
